Trends in Wedding Favors for 2009
By Tiffany Lamothe
The beginning of 2009 brought the release of new wedding favors from ALL of the major wholesale vendors, thus providing online retailers the ability to offer fresh new looks for their customers. While it originally seemed as though eco-friendly favors would be the "In" thing this year, it appears that this year's choice for brides and grooms is personalization. Ever-gaining in popularity, new products have been released to provide personalized options for DIY couples. From classic mint tins, to candy bar wrappers, candy jars, lip balms, and tea packets - personalization has made a huge step in the weddings industry. Google Trends shows keyword searches for "personalized wedding favors" to have hit their greatest spike since 2007! Record searches logged on FavorBonanza.com showed that more visitors are seeking personalization than any other favors on the site! And many popular wedding favor retailers have placed personalized favors on the top of their categories list, or featured them on their homepages. Fashioncraft released several new personalized favors this year, and many more are in the works. Quickly out of stock shortly after release were personalized lip balms, personalized round glass jars, and personalized teddy bear favor jars. They also now offer personalized playing cards, compact mirrors, candles, and notebooks as well. Event Blossom released a plethera of new personalized favors, including mini suitcase mint tins, candles, tissue packs, cappucino mixes, in addition to their already available personalized sunscreen, playing cards, notebooks, candy jars, hand creams, mint tins, gum boxes, lemonades, cocoas, shower gels, sugar cookie mixes, and more! Kate Aspen added only a few - glass favor jars, and monogram charms with printed event date. Wedding Belle Favors added personalized orchid bath salts, seed cards, welcome bags, soaps, and lanyards, in addition to their already expansive offering of personalize-able favors. Also very popular this year are personalized favor stickers and labels, tags, and ribbons. It's no wonder couples are looking for personalization. With so many other weddings giving guest favors, it's hard to select something completely unique that their guests haven't seen at other weddings. By adding personalization, couples can say thank you in a more memorable way and add their own special touch. Will this trend survive the entire 2009 wedding season? It's likely. |
